I received a 404 or 500 error. What do I do now?

If you see a 404 or 500 error while using the TerraCycle website, it usually means the page didn’t load correctly, or the link may no longer be active. These issues are often temporary and can usually be resolved with a few quick steps:

  1. Refresh the page: Sometimes the page simply needs to reload. Refresh the page in your browser or close the tab and open the link again.
  2. Check the link you are using: Make sure the link is complete and correctly entered in your browser. If you clicked a saved or older link, try navigating to the page directly from the main website instead.
  3. Clear your browser cache and cookies: Stored browser data can sometimes cause pages to load incorrectly. Go to your browser settings and clear your cache and cookies, then try accessing the page again.
  4. Log out and log back into your account: If you were trying to access a program or account page, log out of your account, sign back in, and try again.
  5. Try a different browser or device: If the issue continues, try:
    • Opening the page in another browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, etc.)
    • Using a private or incognito window
    • Accessing the site from another device
  6. Make sure you are on the correct regional site: Some programs are only available in certain regions. If a page does not load, it may be because it is not available in your location.
  7. Wait a few minutes and try again: A 500 error can sometimes happen due to a temporary server issue. Waiting a few minutes and trying again often resolves it.
  8. Contact TerraCycle Customer Care if the issue continues: If you still see the error after trying the steps above, please contact our team and include:
    • The page or link you were trying to access
    • A screenshot of the error (if possible)
    • The browser you are using
    • Whether you were logged into your account

This will help us investigate the issue and assist you more quickly.
